What's in a name?

First, I want to say welcome to my new readers! The blog hop was awesome and I'm so excited to have "met" so many new bloggers. I love reading what you all are writing and the pressure is on to be a better blogger on my end!! I feel compelled to have a giveaway since I'm over 150 followers now (WOW). I have no idea what to give away, though, so I'll have to think about it for a bit. :)

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

This week's Show Us Your Life topic at Kelly's Korner is baby names (current or future). I remember when I was younger I would write my future children's names with the last name of the boy I liked at the time. Seems pretty silly now, but I'm glad to know other ladies did this, too! Maybe I'm not crazy after all. At least not when it comes to this matter. Well I'm a grown up now (really?) and of course I still have names picked out. I don't doodle them anymore, but I have them nonetheless. I tend to lean towards traditional names and names that have some sort of meaning to me.

Girls' Names I like....
Caroline Ashley
Kathryn Elyse
I also like Emma, Abigail (Abby) and Anna.

Boys' Names I like
William Barton
Ethan Mark
I also like Elliott, Lucas, Elijah and Jackson.

The Captain would like to pass along his name to his first son as  ***, II (as opposed to Jr.). I would like to use his first name as a middle name and give a son his own first. So, if we have children and one is a boy we will have some negotiating to do. I imagine I will lose that negotiation. Can you deny a man the right to pass on his name? I'm not sure you can. :)

ha ha! when I first met my hubby-to-be, I had an excel spreadsheet that listed names of boy and girl names that I considered using. And it's funny...the name we're using for our baby girl was no where on it!

Yea but the kid will already have his last name so I think that by default you should get to pick the first, right??! Sounds logical to me at least :p

I so do this, along with look at baby stuff, talk about our unborn children and oh the list goes on. I dont think I want children for another 2 years but I know God always laughs at our plans so who knows what will happen! Glad to know there are other out there who name their unborn children too!

PS, glad to have met you too!

I do love the name Emma!

I had baby names all picked out and then my husband vetoed them all. I have no idea how we are ever going to agree on baby names.

I had names picked out too that I loved ever so dearly. Just so happens I married a man who is a III, so he wanted an IV. So that's what we did. I have something for you over on my blog, btw... http://ramblingmilitarywife.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-got-sweet-blog-award.html (sorry if it's a duplicate)

I love the name Ethan. :) So much so that it is our son's first name that he doesn't like and he goes by his middle name which is truly unique because there were so many Ethan's in his pre-k 5 years ago. LOL. It all worked out, and it's still his name. :)

happen to be pretty fond of Abigail myself;) abby and abbers make good nicknames

and yea u usually do loose the son naming rights to the hubs, we did to the same middle name as hubs and my FIL and he got his own first name.

PS do I know this "captain" u talk about didn't I read he went to school with us? or am I just making this up in my head?
